    Peony root or white peony has been used traditionally as medicine in China for at least 1,500 years. Its main use is as a women’s tonic herb for heavy and/or painful periods and menopausal problems. In addition, peony root is used as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic drug in the treatment of dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhoea, and pain in the abdomen and chest .
